Blackness hung in the air. A silent stillness crept over the landscape. Nothing but the bleak feeling of loneliness, breathing slowly, lived in this place. No-one came and no-one went. Time stopped still.
Without warning, a glowing light suddenly appeared, shining across the landscape like a knife cutting through butter. Then another, and another. The light cast dim, angular shadows on the rocky ground below.
“How much longer do I have to sit here like a lemon?” Fred asked dryly.
Fred gave a heavy sigh…even though it was a boring job, he knew that it would earn him enough money to pay for his Christmas presents for his family.
